BIENVENIDO A DEVIR

We would like to introduce you to our company and to explain the philosophy we try to convey, which applies to both, our products and the activities we organize.

Our company spans throughout a large number of countries. We have offices in Barcelona, Bologna, Lisbon, Mexico DF, Miami, Santiago de Chile, Sao Paulo and Seattle. The Devir Group covers all of Latin America, Portugal, Spain, Italy and the United States. Since the founding of the first Devir in Brazil back in 1987, we have put forth a lot of effort to offer customers comic books and games we really like. We only publish things that entertain, which usually form part of fantasy worlds and universes full of imagination and creativity. Stories to read, artwork to admire, and games to enjoy, that invite imagination, creativity and intelligence. We are also care deeply about offering our readers and players the chance to share their experiences. Our vocation is not only related to our role as publishers or distributors of games and books. We believe that there are people out there like us. People for whom there are a logical connections between a trading card game tournament, a day full of games, a role playing games session, an afternoon reading heroic fantasy literature, or just a good comic book. We strive to find out about people´s opinions and tastes, so that we can give them what they really expect.

We can be branded as romantics, however we believe there exists a young audience with critical spirit. Boys and girls fleeing from conventional leisure sources, looking for something else. We like to believe that there are young people out there who prefer to get together -with all the innocence of a fifteen year-old adolescent-, generating communities that revolve around their favorite hobbies, rather than spend entire afternoons watching TV or playing video games. Young people who can travel five hundred kilometers just to play a few games in a championship for the sole enjoyment of meeting with their peers. People who are moved by their love for the hobby or because of their true desire to meet others who enjoy the same things they do, for instance, by attending gaming conventions and/or comics fairs.

At Devir we know these players well, this audience comprised of the readers of future movies, novels, western comics and euro board game enthusiasts. We like them because we are like them. Geeks, if you will. Quirky people within a society that worships a variety of interests that don’t necessarily bring us together or invite us to think. We want people to develop the ability to get involved, to ponder and imagine, face to face. We like to say and think that we do not only sell games. We don’t only sell comic books, books, or manga. Our true vocation is to offer our audience a friendly, social, harmonious and entertaining environment that suits them. We want them to invest time with us, and because of that, we try to offer them the best products, or at least those that we also like. Clever games, interesting publications, and especially, the opportunity to play them, discuss them, have fun and make everlasting friendships.

Our hope is that there are people looking for this new format of entertainment, a format different from what others know, in which people spend an evening among friends moving game pieces and putting cards on a game board rather than wasting a day in front of a screen.

Maybe it is true that we have a different way of seeing things. Nowadays, our proposals for innovative entertainment, outside the norm, are those that are gaining attention, because they involve clever games in which you can develop your full potential, even one you did not know you had.

Anyway, this is Devir: A company that enjoys what it does and that is transforming the way we usually think about “playing” or “reading”. A company which would love people to exhibit the same amount of interest for games, novels, manga and comics as they do for any other fundamental part of society. We believe that without novels and comic books, without King Arthur and Frodo Baggins -and especially- without games, there is no future.
